- Malcolm X
Available for teens.
This eight week course, consisting of a small group of no more than five students, meets two hours per week, and will focus on three main areas. All resources will be provided.
Grammar: we will review the parts of speech and sentence structure.
Vocabulary & Reading: we will examine Latin roots, homophones, and analyze both fiction and nonfiction reading selections.
Writing & Speaking: we will examine the various modes of writing, as well as organization styles. Students will have opportunities to craft and deliver presentations, as well as engage in rhetorical debates.
Multiple cohorts may be rostered simultaneously if a group of students would like to be placed together. Scheduling of tutoring lessons will begin in early July, and enrollment is first-come, first-served for each posted day and time.
For one-on-one lessons, they will be designed to reflect your goal(s). If tutoring is for a school assignment, we will tailor plans to reflect your teacher’s requirements.
For small groups, lessons will include brainstorming, strategies to implement literary devices, workshopping with peers, and publishing plans (if applicable).

If tutoring is for independent practice or reinforcement, we will work from the foundational elements of research, through the writing process, to the completion of a research paper, which will be formatted first in MLA, and then reformatted in APA to examine the differences in requirements.

Customized for you: we will begin in my home, to show you my family’s systems, then, if you are comfortable, we will meet at your home to begin working on your area(s) of concern.
We will focus on decluttering, strategic placement, sustainable systems, time management, and emotional support.
Goals include improving efficiency and functionality, plus those we define together during our first lesson.
Please consider developing a budget that will allow you to add organizational tools and structures to your home, if necessary. I will assist you in finding options to suit your needs.
Customized for you: we will begin in my home, to discuss your event details and areas in which you need guidance. If applicable, we will visit the event site.
The following areas of support are available for event planning & hosting:
Selection of a suitable theme that is personal and engaging.
Designing a thoughtful and cohesive menu, whether you are preparing food or having it catered.
Space planning and decorating your home or venue.
Working within your event budget.
Assistance with etiquette and norms, such as table setting and serving.
Though female-focused, these tutoring lessons are open to anyone who desires a positive change in their personal and/or professional life.
Lessons are informed by the study of positive psychology and personal experience with coaching and therapy, as well as mentoring teens and training adults to become servant leaders for over a decade.
This is NOT therapy. If in the course of our lessons it becomes apparent that you would benefit from greater structure and/or interventions, I will suggest you seek more formal support from a mental health professional.
Please note: One-on-one lessons with any adult identifying as male, plus all teens, will only be scheduled when another adult will be present in my home. Parents are welcome to stay during lessons, but in a separate room to avoid creating the observer effect.
